Children's Literature (Week Three)- Winnie-the-Pooh

Define what it is. What is that for? Why should we care?

1. Introduction

(1) Winnie-the-Pooh 源於當初倫敦所進口的一隻來自Winnipeg省的熊。

(2) 作者: A.A. Milne

(3) 故事中會出現一些兒童容易以拼音所誤拚的單字 eg. "aker"(--acre) ; "hunny"(--honey)

(4) 故事中配合兒童腦容量,也會出現一些簡化的小名 eg. "Kanga"(--Kangaroo)

(5) 故事中會出現一些擬聲字(Onomatopoeia) eg. Eeyore

2. Onomatopoeia

(1) Onomatopoeia is a word that phonetically imitates or suggests the source of the sound 
      that it describes.

(2) Examples- 

         a. 由擬聲字形成的名詞: drip 小水滴; drop 大水滴; frog 青蛙(叫); rush 火速; 
             mumble (=murmur) 喃喃自語。

         b. 純粹表達聲音: meow 貓叫; chirp 鳥叫; boo 鬼嚇人; quack 鴨子叫; 
             sizzle滋滋作響; oink 驢子叫; rumble 肚子咕咕叫 。

4.  課堂提及的其他範例故事

(1) 安徒生,好用一些階級無法跨越的題材與故事,安慰一些處於弱勢的小孩 

     eg. "The Little Mermaid" and "Ugly Duckling"

(2) 從"The Princess And the Pea" 故事中講解文法-- 過去進行式不單獨使用

     eg. In the morning, she was asked how she had sleep.

(3) 由多個故事中看到的驚嘆句,取代較不禮貌的 Oh my god!

     eg. "Heaven only knows!" and " Good gracious!"

(8) be contented with: 滿足.....
